World Rivers Day 2026
Join Ōwhango Alive on Sunday 27 September to celebrate World Rivers Day and help care for our local environment.
We’ll meet at the Whakapapa River Bridge at 10am for a welcome, followed by tree planting along the river.
From 11am, we’ll gather at the Ōwhango Domain Pavilion for refreshments and hear from guest speaker Alastair Cole, a herpetologist who studies amphibians and reptiles, including frogs, lizards and tuatara.
Everyone is welcome to come along and be part of a morning celebrating our rivers, local wildlife and community conservation.
