Owhango Alive Raffle Winner Announced

•

The Owhango Alive raffle has been won by Helen and Steve Roberts, who are looking forward to placing the piece in pride of place, at their home.

The “Whio Whanau” painting was exhibited at the Ruapehu Art Awards last October by Piriaka artist Kathleen Lennie, who then offered Owhango Alive a print, for us to use as a fundraising raffle.

The raffle was a raging success, with the 100 tickets selling out within 5 days!

So, we’d like to offer our thanks to Kathleen (artist),

Helen and Steve (winners) and Kim Petersen, who organised and ran the raffle for us.  And of course, Aaron Owen, who drew the raffle for us at the Blue Hill Cafe social evening.

And thanks also to all of you who bought tickets but didn’t win – your support means a lot.

‘Whio Whānau’
91cm x 61cm print on canvas

By Taumarunui artist Kathleen Lennie

This delightful print was given by Kathleen as a fundraiser to support Owhango Alive in their continued conservation of the Ohinetonga Scenic Reserve, alongside the Whakapapa River at Owhango.

An extensive predator control trapping programme is in action along the banks of the river, where there is a strong population of whio.

The image was composed looking upstream from the Whakapapa Bridge.

Please visit the Facebook pages for both Owhango Alive and Kathleen Lennie to see their amazing work.
