Are you passionate about protecting native wildlife and restoring nature in your own backyard? Come along to the Ōwhango Alive Predator Trap Building Workshop, part of the Mahi Aroha Summer Nature Programme. This practical, community focused session is a great way to learn new skills and support conservation efforts in our rohe.
🌿 What the Workshop Covers
This hands on event is suitable for all ages. Children aged 0 to 12 years are welcome with adult supervision. During the two hour session you will:
Learn how predator traps support native birds and wildlife
Build your own trap to take home and use in your garden
Connect with local volunteers and conservation minded community members
Please bring a hammer. All other materials are provided.
🤝 Community and Conservation Focus
Ōwhango Alive is a local volunteer group dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural environment in and around Ōwhango, including the Ohinetonga Scenic Reserve and Whakapapa River. Their predator control work, planting projects and community education help create safer habitats for whio, kiwi and other native species.
The Predator Trap Building Workshop is part of the wider Mahi Aroha Summer Nature Programme. The series brings people together to explore, enjoy and protect the outdoors through a variety of nature based activities.
This is a fun and meaningful way to learn a new skill while contributing to conservation at home and in the wider community.
