Sally and Tania attended a conference in Omori at Oreti which inspired them to develop their trapping program further.
The group then held a conference at Brocks Farm complex with invited speaker Doctor Carolyn (Kim) King who spoke about the predators to target and their habitats, to ensure effectiveness in the trapping program. Dan Steele from Blue Duck Lodge, Leon Stratford a well known trapper also were amongst the featured speakers, along with Project Tongariro, Jean Stanley of Pukawa Trust, DOC, Horizons and Daniel Hurley from Dog Aversion and Predators. It was a fantastic event for the local community and beyond, inspiring many, including new volunteers to Owhango Alive.
In 2013 team members located old tracking sites in the Ohinetonga Scenic Reserve and a GPS map was made of the trap sites. The team was still relatively small, but was able to get some stoat traps on loan from DOC and a feral cat was also trapped.
