More trap research was done by Sally and traps placed, then Mark along with other volunteers, placed additional traps around the edge of the Owhango Domain.
Our first year of trap data was entered and any traps that hadn’t been successful with a catch were moved, and we purchased the first trail camera for seeing the critters.
The decision was made with DOC to focus on trapping rats in the reserve utilising the existing DOC 200 stoat traps. And also loaned the group a sprayer pack after one of the volunteers completed a Spray Safe course.
Awareness of groups work at market days, share and care signs erected by council, and we had BNZ volunteers participate as part of their ‘closed for good’ (CFG) program helping with a working bee in September. The group started work on creating a brochure for the Ohinteonga Scenic Reserve to provide information on the predators and unique flora and fauna in the area.
